How does it work?

Chip timing is when the competitor has an RFID tag on them (the chip with a code) and goes through a detection system (RTS Antennas). This can occur once or multiple times during an event. This detection data will then be processed through a decoder, meaning transformed from code into appropriate data for the participant.

Key details to know, as experienced chip timers, we have many ways to tailor the data needed to be collected based on your event needs. So there is no need to worry about where the equipment needs to be set up, as we will support you on this to ensure optimal performance.

Delivery Expectations

Step 1 - Prior event

You’ll be assigned an Account Manager who oversees your setup and gathers all event details. They’ll coordinate any optional extras, such as race numbers, signage, medals, trophies or inflatable arch, so you only deal with one point of contact. 

Your participant data is collected (ideally a week before the event), and around a week out, your remote support timer will introduce themselves, upload your data into the timing software and share a secure access key for the event app. During event week, we arrange an Equipment Walkthrough and Setup Support video call to make sure you feel confident using the system.

Once everything is ready, it’s over to you. As a self-managed option, it’s important that you and your team familiarise yourselves with the setup and operation of the event app beforehand — we provide full guidance to support this. Remote timer support is available as needed, rather than through constant real-time communication. If you’d like hands-on support throughout the day, our fully staffed service is the ideal choice.

Step 2 - Event Day

As participants cross a timing point, your team manually enters their race number into the event app to record their time. You can set as many timing points as required across the course during event setup. Participants can start together with a gun start or in smaller waves, whichever suits your event. Multiple devices can be used, and data syncs automatically when connected to the internet.

As soon as your first finishers cross the line, live results are published, giving participants the same experience as professional chip timing. For smooth operation, we recommend at least two staff members recording finishers.

Step 3 - Post Event

After the event, you can download your results directly from your custom results link. If you need additional personal information not shown online, we can provide an export of your finished event (if requested pre-event).

We will work with your team to ensure all results-related enquiries are responded to within 24 hours and that all online results are accurate. Your Account Manager will follow up to gather your honest feedback, as we value everyone’s thoughts. This helps us continually improve our service and ensures your event is even better next time.

Your final invoice will be issued within five days, and, hopefully, you’ll be putting a hold in the diary for your next event!

Delivery Expectations

You will be assigned an Account Manager who oversees your setup, gathers all event details, and coordinates any optional extras*, such as race numbers, signage, medals, trophies, or inflatable arches, so you only deal with one point of contact.

We’ll arrange a call with you and your key team members who will operate the chip timing on the day, guiding you through the equipment and what to do on event day. You’ll also receive industry-leading training materials to ensure your team feels confident. The app is intuitive and customer-friendly, and during event week, we offer an Equipment Walkthrough & Setup Support video call to make sure you’re fully prepared.

Your participant data is collected (ideally a week before the event). Around a week out, your remote support timer will introduce themselves, upload your data into the timing software, and share a secure access key for the event app.

The timing equipment will be delivered in two boxes containing the timing unit, mats, side antennas for chip reading, and an internet connection device. For weekend events, this usually arrives on the Wednesday before. Once everything is ready, it’s over to you. Remote timer support is available as needed rather than constant real-time communication. If you’d like hands-on support throughout the day, our fully staffed service is the ideal choice.

*Our big double-sided race clocks are available to hire, collection only.

Step 2 - Event Day

One of your staff members (not the race director) monitors the system throughout the event, using the supplied tester chip to confirm everything is working before the race and to track chip reads as participants finish. Another staff member is assigned at the finish line to use the manual timing feature in the event app as a backup.

Your remote timer monitors live data from both sources, providing guidance and helping catch and resolve any issues quickly. As soon as your first finishers cross the line, results are published live to the website, giving participants the same professional experience as a fully staffed timing service.

Step 3 - Post Event

We work with your team to ensure all results-related enquiries are responded to within 24 hours and that online results are accurate. A dedicated results email is provided, with a team available to address any participant questions.

After the event, you can download your results directly from your custom results link. If you need additional personal information not shown online, we can provide an export of your finished event (requested pre-event).

Your Account Manager will follow up to gather your honest feedback, helping us continually improve our service and ensuring your event is even better next time.

Separate delivery expectations for race extras are managed, and we document everything you expect from us, including timing and setup on the day.

Your participant data is collected (ideally a week before the event). Around a week out, your on-the-day timer/timing team will introduce themselves, upload your data into the timing software, and provide a secure access key for the event app.

Once everything is ready, you will be handed over to your on-the-day timer/timing team. You will have a dedicated WhatsApp group for easy communication and a point of emergency contact for reassurance.

Step 2 - Event day

Our team arrives to ensure all required equipment is on site, set up, and ready to welcome participants. We provide hands-on, real-time support throughout the day from a designated time base.

We monitor results as the event progresses. As soon as your first finishers, or participants at their first timing point, cross, results are published live to the website, with optional SMS Results sent to participants post-finish, delivering a premium service.

We ensure all results are live and accurate, addressing any immediate discrepancies before leaving the site.

We work with your team to ensure all results-related enquiries are answered within 24 hours and that online results are accurate. Your Account Manager will follow up to gather your honest feedback, helping us continually improve our service and ensuring your event is even better next time.

We provide signage and a QR code that participants can scan at the finish line to view their results live. Results are published within moments of the first finishers. Depending on your event, we can display Gun Time, Chip Time, Categories, Teams, Positions, and more. All data will be collected and tailored to suit your specific requirements.
